Other Comments: I am currently raising A. buytaerti BSWG 97-3. I have three breeding pairs and 50+ fry at the moment (April 2006). I received 6 fry about 8 months ago from Dave Koran's small stock of fry. Dave reports that his stock is very heavy on females, but I wound up with three pairs out of the six fry. The males are very slow to color up, much like A. celiae which it reminds me of. The males have a single horizontal electric blue stripe in the dorsal, with small bands of color in the anal fin. Overall body color is a light yellow. I put the original six fry in a ten gallon tank with a large clump of Java moss and a thick surface cover of giant salvinia. I fed baby brine, frozen bloodworms and live black worms. Fry appeared in the Java moss. I did not pick eggs at all. I recently broke the tank down to put the adults in a new tank setup and the fry in other tanks as quite a few had appeared. I removed 46 fry from the tank at this time. I change 70% of the water every two weeks. Hardness is about 10ppm. Temp ranges from 71 to 77 deg. F. Ph is about 6.5 or so.
