Poor egg survival
Sex ratio: Breeding difficulty: Average
Sucess: Fairly sucessfulYears Experience:
Other Comments: Bought pair at Manchester auction in Nov.Water was 7.2PH & Ms1000+. Adjusted 16x8x8 inch tank to these conditions & reduced these gradually to approx6.0PH & approx Ms 50.ie rain water over peat.Fed frozen bloodworm & brineshrimp & first eggs laid on java moss and collected on 23/11. Eggs collected weekly as follows,3,3,5,15,12,19.Eggs which are large were placed on wet peat however of the first three batches only two eggs survived. Both these have since hatched and are eating young brine shrimp. The 4th weeks eggs have eyed up satisfactory and I will aim to add water after 20 days similar to my Coeleste & Citrinieppinis.I feel that the early losses were due to the young age of the fish & that a "dry storage" basis is probably satisfactory for good results.
