Other Comments: 3 pairs kept in 9 gallon container outdoors fom May to October. Water pH 7.5 but kept hard with tufa rock and 1 teaspoon of salt per gallon. Temperature range from around 10C up to 27C depending on time of day and time of year. Spawning occured during summer in filamentous algae and acrylic mops. Fish brought indoors for winter months in mostly unheated room. fed on live mosquito larvae, frozen bloodworm and brineshrimp and protein granules.

Other Comments: Water is pH 7.5 but hard with tufa rock in aquarium and 1 teaspoon of salt per gallon. Filamentous algae favoured for spawning, though mops and other plant also present. Fish kept outdoors from May to October and brought into unheated or irregularly heated room for winter. Lowest temperature around 8 - 10 degrees centigrade, highest around 26 - 27. Fry appeared with adults but were removed after a couple of weeks for safety.
