Breeding Report: Aplocheilus panchax panchaxWater conditions: Moderately hard and alkaline, 24-27oC
Spawning Method: Spawning Mops
Sex ratio: Somewhat female heavy
Breeding difficulty: Very easy
Success: Very successful
Other Comments: Very easy species to keep and breed. Will however eat small fish if it fits into there mouths. Eats all kinds of frozen foods, but my fish mainly get redworms. I tend to get more females than males on a ration of 60% to 40 %.
Young fish at the age of 6 to 8 mounths are more likely to give you a lot of eggs than older fish.
I pick the eggs from the mop and put it in a small bowl with fresh tapwater holding the same temperature as the tank.
