Breeding Report: Epiplatys dageti dagetiWater conditions: Moderately soft and acidic, 20-23oC
Spawning Method: Spawning Mops
Sex ratio: Roughly equal
Breeding difficulty: Very easy
Success: Very successful
Other Comments: This is a staple fish to the hobby. Easy to keep and easy to breed. Only problem is the size of eggs and size of fry.
I have to use infusoria (green water) to get the fry through the first week or so before they will take Artemia nauplii.
Grown is quite slow, but the fish are hardy and I find losses are few in both eggs/fry.
Very prolific egg layers once they're underway. I frequently have consecutive days when I remove remove 30+ eggs from the mop from a single pair. Eggs are laid at all levels.

Breeding Report: Epiplatys dageti dagetiLocation code: Nkwanta GH96
Water conditions: Very soft and acidic, 20-23oC
Spawning Method: Spawning Mops
Breeding problems: Poor fry survival rate
Sex ratio: Roughly equal
Breeding difficulty: Easy
Success: Very successful
Other Comments: 2007, not 2005!
Only problems are that the parents eat the fry so I removed the eggs from the mops and the fry need infusoria or other very small food at first.
Parents and older young doing great in a quiet community tank.
